I DO NOT SUPPORT DMK OR AIADMK PARTY.I AM DEEPLY OFFENDED BY THE CRITICISM IN NORTH INDIAN MEDIA.WHAT I WANT TO SAY IS YES THIS COULD HAVE BEEN SIMPLER BUT THIS CONFERNCE IS NOT COMPLETELY WASTE.WHEN IN THE CORNER OF INDIA PEOPLE ARE DOING BIG THINGS DONT BELITTLE THEM ON THE FIRST LOOK.THERE IS NO TAMIL CHAUVNISM.U HAVE THEATRES IN CHENNAI ONLY FOR HINDI SPEAKING PEOPLE,TELNGU SPEAKING PEOPLE&KANNADA.THEY SCREEN ONLY THAT LANGUAGE FILMS.
EVEN DURING ANTI-HINDI AGITATION THERE HAS NOT BEEN SINGLE ATTACK AGAINST NORTHINDIANS.BECAUSE TAMILIANS WERE CLEAR THAT WAT THEY OPPOSE IS LANGUAGE IMPOSITION AND NOT PEOPLE(when people are busy in earning their breads, wnu say that only if u learn hindi u will be able to communicate officallyin dourts etc wat innocent people like illeterate farmers think) .TODAY 30%CHENNAI IS NORTH INDIANS&ANOTHER MILLION ARE LIVING IN ALL DISTRICTS OF TAMILNADU.when u spend thousands of crore for commonwealth u say it is useful we accept..but if we do an fraction of it u criticize it.
many of my frnds ask in north india y tamilians hate hindi..no..we dont hate hindi..only we opposed imposition..our politicians oppose it&they made milage by overdoing things creating fear etc..remember famous hindi academy is located in chennai producing many hindi scholars evey year.even many in tamilnadu including me support studying hindi as an third language.y i explanied this TO REPLY TO TAMILS AS ALWAYS CHAUVNISTS CRITICISM.
TAMILIANS ARE PEACE LOVING,HARD WORKING PEOPLE AND REMEMBER THAT TAMIL IS AN OFFICIAL LANGUAGE IN MALYASIA,SINGAPORE AND SPOKEN IN MANY MORE COUNTRIES AND TAMIL NRIS&SRILANKAN TAMILS AND TAMILIANS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES HAVE A STRONG CONNECTION THROUGH THEIR COMMON LANGUAGE.IT IS IN THEIR INTEREST TO TAKE TAMIL TO NEXT LEVEL.THERE IS NOTHING WRONG IF THEY ASEMBLE AND DISCUSS ABOUT INPROVING THEIR MOTHER TONGUE.IF THE SAME THING IS DONE FOR SANSKRIT NO ONE WILL OPPOSE BUT MINDS ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCEPT TAMIL AS SOMETHING SPECIAL.NO NEED but let tamils celeberste their pride.PROF.ASKO PARLOPA HAS SAID EARLIER CIVILIZATION DATING TO INDUS CIVILIZATION HAS PROOF OF RICH TAMIL CULTURE.HOW MANY TAMILS GET IT??
PROF GEORGE HART FROM AMERICA WROTE AN LETTER TO INDIAN GOVNT SAYING WHEN U SAY INDIA IS GREATIN DIVERSITY WE UNDERSTAND IT,IN THE SAME WAY WHEN U SAY TAMIL IS AN CLASSICAL LANGUAGE WE UNDERSTAND IT WHY THE GOVNT TAKES TIME TO UNDERSTAND IT??.RESEARCHERS LIKE THIS MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR TAMIL TO BE AWARDED CLASSICAL LANGUAGE STATUS IN 2006.
IT IS AN HABIT FOR INTELLGENTISIA THAT WHENEVER ANYTHING IS DONE IN THE NAME OF TAMIL IT IS BEING BELITTLED.I WANT TO ONE THING HERE.if RAJIV GANDHI HAS NOT BEEN KILLED AND THE SAME SRILANKAN WAR WAS HAPPENING TAMILNADU COULD HAVE BURSTED INTO FLAMES IN ANGER.BUT DUE TO THEIR ATTACHMENT FOR INDIA,NEHRU FAMILY MANY PEOPLE LOST THEIR LOVE FOR LTTE SUPPORTES AND WAT HEY HAVE NOW IS SILENT SYMPAHTHY WHICH IS NOW EXPRESSED.ONLY TAMIL GROUPS REMAIN vOCAL.
I THINK RICH LANGUAGE LIKE TAMIL AND PEACE LOVING TAMILIANS ARE NOT GIVEN ADEQUATE RECONGITION&WATEVER TAMILS DO IT IS RUBBED OFF IN THE NAME OF TAMIL CHAUVINISM WHEN IT DOES NOT EVEN EXIST EXCEPT FOR SOME SECTIONS??PEOPLE ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCEPT THAT THERE LIVES AN SECTION OF PEOPLE WHO ARE EQUALLY RICH IN HERITAGE OR CULTURE EQUAL TO US,GREEKS OR LATINS.THEY ONLY WANT TO LOOK DOWN ON US.BUT NOW THAT SITUATION IS CHANGING.THANK GOD&I THINK WE NEED ASSERTIONS LIKE THIS.
EVN I DO NOT KNOW THIS MANY FOREIGN SCHOLARS EXIST.IT WAS N JOY FOR ME TO WATCH THEM SPEAK TAMIL.
what ARE foreign scholars VIEWS??
The greatness and richness of Tamil Literature were respected by reputed foreign scholars like Fr. Beschi, G.U. Pope and others.
No doubt its classical merit too was very much understood and appreciated by academicians like George L. Hart.
An American george hart stole the hearts of the audience at the inaugural of the world classical Tamil conference with his unblemished use and pronunciation of Tamil verses during his speech. American Tamil professor George Hart was greeted with instant applause as he opened his speech with a few lines of Tamil poet Subramania Bharathi to illustrate how Tamil was indeed the most beautiful language of the world.
Even before the cheers could die down, Prof. Hart delved into Tamil Sangam literature Purananooru to underline how ancient Tamil society had organised itself and ran its business. Once again his chaste diction, with no dilution of Tamil’s unique syllable ‘zha’, was acknowledged by another round of applause.
Prof. Parpola made Tamils swell with pride when he said in his acceptance speech, “Tamil fully deserved the classical status accorded to it because of its antiquity and rich literature compared to many other classical traditions. Without studying Tamil, you cannot penetrate the roots of Indus script.”
Prof. Parpola, 69, has been stressing since 1968 that the Indus civilisation and its writings are Dravidian. “In my opinion, Tamils are entitled to some pride for having preserved so well the linguistic heritage of the Indus civilisation. At the same time, it must not be forgotten that though their language has shifted in the course of millennia, people of north India, too, have by far descended from the Harappan people, and have also preserved cultural heritage of the same civilisation,” he said.
Another Indus script expert and Tamil scholar, Mr Iravatham Mahadevan, said Prof. Parpola, as a Vedic scholar-turned-Dravidianist, had the best academic credentials to prove that the Indus civilisation was pre-Aryan and that its writing encoded a Dravidian language.

I GET MANY SMS SAYING 480 CRORES WASTE IN FIVE DAYS.YES I ACCEPT.THIS MUCH MONEY,GRANDUER IS WASTE.DECLARING HOLIDAYS HAS BEEN CRITICISED.NOT INVITING DR.A.P.J ABDUL KALAM HAS BEEN CRITICISED.BUT ACCORDING TO ME INSPITE OF ALL THIS MISTAKES THERE ARE ALSO SOME USEFUL ASCPECTS OF THIS CONFERNCE.THIS CONFERNCE IS NOT COMPLETELY WASTE.MY VIEW IS THIS CONFERNCE COULD HAVE BEEN CONDUCTED WITH HALF THE EXPENDITURE .
BUT BECAUSE OF THIS GRAND EXPENDITURE,ARRRRANGMENTS ONLY PEOPLE FEEL ATLEAST INVOLVED IN THE CONFERNCES THAT WAS CONDUCTD BEFORE PEOPLE FEEL DOES NOT EVEN GET CONNECTED EXCEPT THE LOCAL POPULATION.AT FIRST,THEME SONG WHETHER NIC EOR NOT NICE IS DIFFCULT TO BE POPULARISED BUT THIS TIME IT CLICKED MANY YOUTH LISTEN BY DOWNLOADING,SEE IN YOUTUBE.
I AM NOT JUSTIFYING THE FULL EXPENDITURE.BUT THIS 480 CRORES EASILY COULD HAVE SPENT FOR "VALARPPU MAGAN OR MAGAL MARRIAGE"(FORMER CM CONDUCTED ADOPTED SON MARRIAGE WITH A.R.REHMAN ORCHESTRA)OR INTO SOME DMK MINISTERS POCKET.ATLEAST IT IS BEING SPRNT IN THE NAME OF TAMIL.
ATLEAST HERE EXPENDITURE WAS DONE EVENTHOUGH WASTE.I ACCPET THAT EXPENDITIURE HAS NOT CREATED ANY GOOD INFRASTRUCTRE&WATEVER HAS BEEN DONE HAS BEEN HALF BAKED BUT ATLEAST IT HAS BEEN DONE.
NEXT IS PRAISING OF LEADER.WHO DOES NOT LIKE PRAISES??DO U THINK IF FORMER CM HAS CONDUCTED THERE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN PRAISES??PRAISING THE LEADER IS AN POLITICLA ART OF GETTING NOTED IN THE EYES OF LEADER.EXCEPT RARE INSTANCES IT HAS BEEN IN PRACTICE FROM YESTER YEARS.

SOME SELF ASSERTION ARE NEEDED BY TAMILS.NOTHING WRONG IN THAT.NORTH INDIAN TELEVISIONS ARE SAING KARUNANIDHI EXTRAGVANZA.BUT IT WILL BE AN SHAME FOR THEM IF THEY KNOW THE USEFUL DIVERSE TOPICS THAT ARE BEING DISCUSSED.THERE ARE THREE SIMULATANEOUS SESSIONS GOING ON1.)ACADMEIC DISUSSIONS 2.)SEMINARS3.)TAMIL ARTS,MUSIC,EXHIBTIONS FOR ENTERTAINMENT SAKE.
WHAT IS THE MOST USEFUL ONE IS ACADEMIC DISCUSSIONS THAT IS TAKING PLACE.IF THE DECISIONS REACHED OR POINTS GATHERED IS IMPLEMENTED LIKE WIKEPEDIA ENGLISH UMAY HAVE WIKEPEDIA TAMIL OR GOOGLING IN TAMIL &SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT CAN BE USEFUL.

HOW MANY OF THE TAMILS KNOW ABOUT TAMIL??
MUMMY DADDY CULTURED TAMILIANS ARE MORE VOCAL IN THEIR CRITICISM.THIS SECTION OF TAMILIANS THINK IF WE SPEAK IN TAMIL THAT IS MOTHER TONGUE IT LEADS TO PRESTIGE PROBLEM.SO SPEAKING IN ENGLISH BETTER.
WHAT I AM SAYING IS I DO NOT WANT TO SAY TAMIL IS THE BEST ,I WABNT MOTHER TONGUE TO BE GIVEN RESPECT.DONT YOU SEE JAPANESE,CHINESE&RUSSIAND SONT USE ENGLISH,THEY STUDY IN THEIR MOTHER TONGUE AND WHEREVER THEIR LEADERS GO THEY SPEAK IN THEIR MOTHET TONGUE AND TRANSLATORS TRANSLATE THEM.WE NEED NOT GO TO THAT EXTENT.LET US STUDY IN TAMIL SO THAT OUR THINKING MAY BE BETTER.WHEN WE THINK IN MOTHER TONGUE WE WILL BE ABLE TO THINK BETTER.IT IS AN PROVEN FACT.LEARNING AN SECOND LANGUAGE EXCEPT IN RARE EXCEPTIONS IS NOT ALWAYS EQUAL TO FIRST LANGUAGE AS FACT SAYS.YES,SOME SPEAK MANY LANGUAGES BETTER BUT WHEN THEY THINK INN WAT LANGUAGE THEYTHINK??MOSTLY MOTHER TONGUE.
I WANT TO QUOTE SOME SNTENCES FROM INDIAN PRESIDENTS SPEECH TO KNOW ABOUT THE RICHNESS OF TAMIL.
"The Tamil people have greatly enriched the composite heritage of India and enhanced the cultural richness of the world. Tamil ethos based on pluralism, tolerance and a humanistic approach has contributed from early times to this day, in a variety of ways to the progress of the country and in shaping India's identity as a nation that is rich in art and music, architecture and literature. Tamil language, with its vibrancy and richness, has made India a proud multilingual society.
The Tamil people reputed for their intellect, scholarship and learning, are also dynamic and enterprising. Long before the days of the 'Silk Route', Tamil merchants were sailing around the Indian coast to the Persian Gulf. It was the Tamilians, who around the 1st Century BC, discovered and harnessed trade winds. There is a saying in Tamil, meaning - ride the mighty ocean in quest of treasure, which in essence captures the Tamil spirit to succeed. This spirit, alongwith the creativity of the Tamil people has been instrumental in their success and, I am confident, will continue to bring them success, wherever they are and in whatever field they are involved.
The history of the Tamils is our nation's pride. Many concepts intrinsic to India's society and basic to its polity are found in Tamil discourse over the millennia. For example, respect for each other's religion has long been part of Tamil cultural tradition. Tamil Nadu is a source of both Saivite and Vaishnavite philosophies. A substantial body of work exists on Jain and Buddhist beliefs as well as on Islam and Christianity. This is an illustrative example of different faiths co-existing and enriching each other through their interaction. For peace and harmony, we also need a world that does not discriminate and that does not tolerate inequality. A principal tenet of the Constitution of our country is to secure social, economic and political justice along with equality of status and opportunity to all. Universal Adult Franchise and our democratic framework have given a political voice to every adult citizen of the country. Fundamental rights ensure equality and prohibit discrimination on grounds of caste, creed, race and religion. Tamil Nadu has also been leading in social reform, fighting social biases and working for achieving a society where people from all sections of society would be treated with equal respecT"
HOW MANY OF THEEM KNOW THE PROGRAMS BEFORE CRITCISING??SOME SEE ONLY PANDAL &OTHER ARRANGMENTS AND SAY IT IS AN WASTE WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT IS AN TAMIL CONFERNCE.

TAMIL INTERNET CONFERNCE
The Ninth World Tamil Internet Conference, to be held here as part of the World Classical Tamil Conference, is expected to revive the process of standardising Tamil letters on a mobile keypad
I WANT TO QUOTE AN REPORT FROM THE HINDU TO SHOW WAT USE OF THIS INTENET CONFERNCE??
Further, keypad layout standardisation is necessary to facilitate the development of tools and technology for the use of Tamil in mobile phones. Also it will help the manufacturers of mobile phones implement a common keypad layout.”
The committee consulted experts and conducted two levels of tests - using emulators in the first level and mobile phones in the second. It also sought the opinion of 80 students during the testing process.
Finally, the committee came up with a keypad after taking into account the current and future needs of keypad for various applications and factors like user friendliness, key position recall, over-all design, suitability for different type of input methods and key press efficiency.
On the suggestion made, the report says, “The suggested layout is suitable for implementing four different types of input methods – multi tap, the two-key tap and select, the alternating consonant-vowel method and the T9-like single tap method.” As per the committee report, the 18 consonants have been placed in nine pairs from one to nine on the keypad.
The vowels also come in pairs (short and long) except ‘i' and ‘ou' which are placed with ‘5' and ‘7' respectively.
The ‘pulli' or dot is the first choice in ‘#' key as it is often used in Tamil. Letter ‘sri' is also incorporated in ‘#' key. Other special letters follow ‘sri'. These suggestions in the report are yet to see the light of the day, as the government is yet to act on the same.
THIS IS THE NINTH INTENET CONFERNCE TO BE HELD.LAST ONE WAS HELD IN GERMANY.FIRST OF ALL THERE NEED TO BE ORGANIZING CAPACITY.
I THINK THIS SCALE ARREANGMENTS NEED MINUTE THINKING AND ORGANIZING ABLITY.YOU NEED MANY TASK MASTER,YOU CANNOT HAVE A SINGLE LEADER OVERSEEING ALL THIS.IT IS AN GOOD TEAM EFFORT.
if there is negative points one is it could have been simpler &many more personalties like dr.a.p.j abdul kalam could have been invited, more permanent infrastruvture for kovai could have been created..&prasising karunanidhi could have been little ..but do u think if anyother leader has conducted it will be neutral without praises..todays politics is like that...inspite of all this this confernce is sucess eventhough english&hindi media and others belittle it......
tamilan endru sollada .thalai nimirndhu nillada

want to add some lines from an news report??
After typing on the madikkanini, the penachchemippam is taken out to save the tharavu. Wondering what is all this?
These are the Tamil equivalents of computer terms in English. The first means laptop, the second pen drive and third data. To make computers easier and friendlier to the Tamil populace, a list of Tamil equivalents of computer terms has been placed at the Tamil Internet Exhibition at the CODISSIA complex here.
There are more than 200 terms which have been classified into six categories. The first is General or podhu, the second Office Applications or aluvalaga payanpaadugal, the third Internet or inaiyam, the fourth Network or pinaiyam, the fifth Database or tharavuththalam and the last Programming or niralakkam.
The list draws a lot of people, some of who even memorise the Tamil terms. S. Ganesamoorthy of Madurai appreciates the efforts taken to translate the words and list the same.
