WE CANNOT GO FOR SHORT TERM MEASURES TOLD MR.ANUBMANI RAMA DOSS IN A HINDU COLUMN.ACCORDING TO HIM ACCORDING TO HIM THE DOCTOR PATIENT RATIO IN INDIA IS 1:1700,IF WE ADD THE TRADITIONAL MEDICINE DOCTORS THIS RATIO COMES TO 1:700.THE WHO RECOMMENDED RATION IS 1:300.
ARGUMENT FOR:
1.)PEVIOUSLY THERE WAS L.M.P SO WE NEED ANOTHER SYSTEM IN RURAL AREAS
2.)DUE TO DEFICIT OF DOCTORS WE NEED IT
3.)PEOPLE IN RURAL AREAS ARE MOST COMMONLY AFFECTED BY BASIC COMMON AILMENTS LIKE FEVER,DMALARIA ETC..SO WE NEED BASIC DOCTORS LIKE U.K
4.)SIMPLY PRODUCING M.B.B.S IS OF NO USE AS DOCTORS WITH 5 AND HALF YEARS DEGREE IS NOT WILLING TO WORK IN VILLAGES.
5.)SOME STATES HAVE SUCESSFULLY IMPLEMENTED SO THIS SCHEME IS NOTHING NEW.
6.)DOCTORS OPPOSE AS THEIR INCOME WILL BE AFFECTED.
7.VILLAGERS HAVE TO TRAVEL LONG DISTANCE TO SEEK TRATMENT.

AGAINST:
some states oppose politically as health is in the states list..and not in the concurrent or union list.they say it is against the principle of federlism.leaving federalism away...other reasons are as follows..
1.)IT DISCRIMANTES RURAL PEOPLE BY CREATING 2 CLASS OF DOCTORS ONE FOR RICH AND OTHER FOR POOR.
2.)IT WILL PRODUCE OFFICIAL QUACKS.
3.)IT WILL PRODUCE A NEW CLASS ..APART FROM MALE HEALTH WORKERS,FEMALE HEALTH ACTIVISTS,ANGANWADI WORKERS ETC WHICH WILL CONFUSE.
4.)WE CAN GIVE MORE TRAINING TO FEMALE &MALE HEALTH WORKERSAND EQUIP THEM.
5.)IT IS NOT TRUE THAT DOCTORS ARE NOT READY TO WORK IN RURAL AREAS ..
THEY ARE..NOT GOING TO VILLAGES BCOZ OF LACK OF BASIC INFRASTRUCTRE LIKE DRINKING WATER,TOILET,ACCOMODATION FACILTIES ETC..

SOME EXPERTS ADVISE FIRST TO TACKLE THE UNEQUAL DISTRIBUTION OF DOCTORS AS MAIUN REASON AS MORE DOCTORS ARE IN SOUTH INDIA AS COMPARED TO NORTH INDIA..THEY ARE SAYING TO IMPLEMENT SAMBASIVA RAO COMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS OF COMPLSORY RURAL WORK EXPERIENCE FOR ELIGBILTY TO P.G COURSES.SINCE TAMILANDU GOVERNMENT HAS DECIDED NOT TO IMPLEMENT THIS COURSE CITING THAT HERE ARE ADEQUATE DOCTORS IN RURAL AREAS AND WE HAVE ENOUGH DOCTORS REGISTERED IN EMPLOTMENT EXCHANGE.SO A BIG RELIEF FOR TAMILANDU DOCTORS...I DO NOT THINK IT IS AN REVOLUTIONARY IDEA.BCOZ SOME STATES LIKE CHATTISGARH IMPLEMENTED AND WITHDRAW LATER AND NOW IMPLEMENTING AGAIN .SO GOVNT SHOULD EXERCISE CAUTION.
I THINK DOCTORS ARE OPPOSING THIS SCHEME FOR THEIR OWN SELFISH INTEREST...
ReplyDeletemr.anonymous..u r the first to comment...even if u say that doctors are selfish there are some impartial experts are questioning this scheme ??..but i did not say i am opposing 100%..just i am scepticla..i am concerned about the plight of poor in strates like bihar,u.p.etc...
ReplyDeletePeople in the rural areas cannot afford the high fees charged by some doctors.. We have seen a lot people die due to unavailability of good doctors in the rural areas. I don't see any reason as to why people should oppose such good scheme. I'am planning to let one of my family member to take up the course.. Please provide more information of the course..
ReplyDeletehi...thank u for ur comments..now the preparation for syllabus and materials is going on..soon they will start in evry district where there is government medical colleges....i agree with ur view..recently there was an excellent article in hindu by c.m.c vellore professor supporting it ..but i am concerned about the implemntation..it should not be another half baked step..
